We had pitch with its own bathroom incl. Shower, basin and toilet. The general facility lower block had small shower cubicles with nowhere to put dry things. Pitch was a reasonable size but up a bit of a slope. The lower pool was open but the weather too cool to swim. Pools higher up were closed and the facilities on that level newer with larger showers. Maintenance isn’t a strong point. We reported a leaking washing up and laundry sink outside our bathroom and it wasn’t fixed during our stay. We noticed that most of the sinks outside the bathrooms on pitches leaked. The tap on the adjacent wash up was broken. We paid E5 extra per night for the bathroom and wash up area and expected them to be fully functional.
Location top, but not an easy route to travel with big caravan/camper. Once you have reached the campsite, it’s fine. Nice pool with a nice view, pitches ok, facilities in good and clean condition. Nice restaurant, friendly staf!
In high season this will be different, since all facilities will be open, but for us the main selling point from this campsite is it's second large pool.
At the booking it is confirmed that this pool will open per 1st of June, before that the smaller pool is only open. The whole reason for us, with small kids, was to come with the large pool open per 1st of June.
When we arrived the pool was said not to be open for atleast a certain time, because it needs to be emptied first, cleaned after, filled (3 days), and after that to get up to temperature. This last part takes about 1.5 week, due to the hillside where it is located, and the size of the pool.
This means that the pool was not going to be open until atleast half of June. For me, when booking two weeks in advance, that is unacceptable. If booked many months in advance, it can happen, but just make sure that your number one selling point is open.
The campsite is located in the hills, and please do not follow Google maps. Lovely location also to visit lucca, pisa and Florence.
The other main disadvantage is that there is only warm water until 6pm, after that time the water is cold, due to sun boilers. Maybe this is 7pm in high season, but for me, with small kids, this is a disadvantage.
Overall, we left early and are disappointed, and feel that this could be a great place, with some proper maintenance and a pool open.
Now it feels not very well maintained, not mowed, and old sanitary facilities without toilet paper, cold water, and a closed pool (pictures of the pool taken at 2nd of June 2023). Other pool is too cold to swim for kids, if it was warmer it could be less of a problem that the main pool wasn't open.
If you need to raise the price, that would be fine by me. For other families, ask if the pool is open before booking.
Outstanding camping, the best we've been to in Italy so far (7 different campings).
Swimming pool is awesome for kids, AND parents.
It is very packed and close to your neighbours. Though since it’s on the side of a mountain you have a beautiful view of the mountainside.
Lovely site in the hills, two great pools, very friendly staff, lovely restaurant. Showers and toilets were clean but basic, but plenty of them. Our only negative is we were in a pitch by the road which could be very noisy. Easy to get into the towns around and the trian to Lucca
This is a lovely campsite that works well as a base for exploring the region - great to come back for a swim after a hot day site-seeing. There are two pools - one which looked quieter (fewer children) and one that our children loved …
Lovely, tidy, friendly countryside campsite with helpful staff. The upper terraces look out over Beautiful Tuscany and the quaint Montecantini Alto. We were on the upper terrace so had panoramic views from our pitch. We were in a VW LWB …
